Pick a colour or paste a hex code to see it as HEX, RGB and HSL — tap any row to copy. HSL is the format to reach for when tweaking a shade: adjusting the L (lightness) value gives you a tint or shade of the same hue. Runs entirely in your browser.
This colour converter turns any colour into its HEX, RGB and HSL forms at once. Pick a colour from the swatch or paste a hex code (long #rrggbb or short #rgb), and it shows all three formats with a live preview; tap any value to copy it. Quick buttons nudge the colour lighter, darker, more or less saturated.
The three formats are the same colour written for different jobs. HEX (#3b82f6) is the compact form you paste into CSS and design tools. RGB (rgb(59, 130, 246)) spells out the red, green and blue channels, which is what you need when setting colours in code or working with opacity. HSL (hsl(217, 91%, 60%)) describes a colour as hue, saturation and lightness, and it is the one to reach for when adjusting a shade: change the lightness and you get a tint or shade of the exact same hue, which is how you build a consistent palette from one base colour.
Everything is computed in your browser — no colour you enter is sent anywhere — and it works offline. It is a small utility, but it saves the round-trip of opening a design app just to find out what a hex code looks like or what its RGB channels are.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert HEX to RGB?
Paste the hex code (with or without the #, long or short form) and the RGB value appears immediately, along with HSL. Tap the RGB row to copy it. It also works in reverse from the colour picker.
When should I use HSL instead of HEX or RGB?
Use HSL when adjusting a colour: because it separates hue from lightness and saturation, you can make a lighter or darker version of the same hue by changing one number — ideal for building tints and shades for a palette.
Is the colour data uploaded?
No. All conversion happens in your browser; nothing you pick or paste is sent to a server. The tool works with your connection turned off.
