This discount calculator handles the three questions a sale actually raises. What will I pay after a percentage off? What percentage am I really saving between the original and the sale price? And what does an 'extra 10% off' coupon do on top of a discount that's already applied? Pick the mode and it shows the price you pay and the amount you save.
The first two modes are plain arithmetic: 25% off $120 is $90, saving $30; and a drop from $80 to $60 is a 25% discount. The stacked mode is where intuition misleads people. Discounts multiply, they don't add — 25% off and then a further 10% off $120 is $120 × 0.75 × 0.90 = $81, an effective discount of 32.5%, not the 35% it looks like. The calculator shows that effective rate so the coupon's real value is obvious.

How do I calculate a discount?
Multiply the price by the discount percentage to get the saving, then subtract it. 25% off $120 is a $30 saving and a $90 price. This calculator does it instantly and also shows the reverse — the % off between any two prices.
Do stacked discounts add up?
No — they multiply. 20% off then a further 10% off is not 30% off; it's 100% × 0.8 × 0.9 = 72% of the price, a 28% effective discount. The second cut applies to the already-reduced price, and the calculator's stacked mode shows the true effective rate.
How do I find the percentage off from two prices?
Subtract the sale price from the original, divide by the original, and multiply by 100. The 'percent off from two prices' mode does this for you — useful for checking whether a 'was/now' claim is as big as it looks.
