Interest is compounded monthly and deposits are assumed made at each month’s end. A projection, not a guarantee — real returns vary and this ignores tax. Runs entirely in your browser.
This savings goal calculator answers the two questions that actually help you plan: how much do I need to put away each month to reach a target by a certain date, and — if I can only spare a set amount — how long will it take? Enter the goal, your starting balance and an interest rate, then pick the mode.
The first mode solves for the monthly deposit. Give it a €10,000 goal in 24 months with €1,000 already saved, and it works out the deposit that gets you there, then shows how much of the total is your own money versus interest earned. The second mode works the other way: fix the monthly amount and it tells you how many months (and years) the goal will take. Both use monthly compounding, so a higher interest rate visibly shortens the time or lowers the deposit — the reason saving into an account that actually pays interest matters over a multi-year goal.
It is a planning projection, not a promise: real savings rates change and it ignores tax on interest. Everything is computed in your browser — the amounts you type are never uploaded — and it works offline once loaded.
Frequently asked questions
How much should I save each month to reach my goal?
Enter your target, timeframe, starting balance and interest rate; the calculator solves for the exact monthly deposit and shows how much comes from your deposits versus interest. Switch modes to instead see how long a fixed monthly amount would take.
Does it account for interest?
Yes — it compounds monthly at the rate you enter, so a higher rate lowers the deposit you need or shortens the time. Set the rate to 0 if you just want the plain division without any growth.
Are my figures uploaded?
No. The maths runs in your browser and nothing you enter is sent anywhere. You can check the Network tab, or disconnect from the internet and keep using it.
